Lafferty’s Wake rises again at Society Hill Playhouse

Society Hill Playhouse presents LAFFERTY’S WAKE, an Irish-style comedy with lots of audience involvement.

 

Come celebrate the 20th year anniversary of Lafferty’s Wake with us at Society Hill Playhouse!

 

 

LAFFERTY’S WAKE, the interactive Irish comedy returns to the Society Hill Playhouse Cabaret for a limited run. LAFFERTY’S WAKE premiered at Society Hill Playhouse in 1998 and was written on commission by Philadelphia playwright, Susan Turlish. LAFFERTY’S WAKE has entertained hundreds of audiences throughout the country. LAFFERTY’S WAKE opens Friday, October 16, 2015 at 8 PM and is scheduled to run Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 3:00pm through December 20, 2015.

Ticket prices are $35.00 with group rates and specials available. Tickets can be purchased through the Society Hill Playhouse website:www.societyhillplayhouse.org   or at the door of the theatre on the day of the show. Society Hill Playhouse is located at 507 S Eighth Street, Philadelphia PA 19147.

 

 

 

The Society Hill cabaret has been turned into Rory’s Pub, where as his final request, Charlie Lafferty is

 

being waked, with his wife Kathleen, daughter Maggie; son-in-law Patrick, the village priest Father  Pettigrew, his special friend, Molly; and his best friend Rory in attendance. Sing-alongs with the audience include: Whiskey in the Jar, Sweet Molly Malone, The Orange and the Green, and When Irish Eyes are Smiling. Madison Auch on guitar and piano for this production.

 

 

The cast features:

 

Caitlin Catanella  -  The Grieving Widow – Kathleen (Cherry Hill, NJ)

 

Caitlin recently played Rosaline in Mainstage’s production of ROMEO AND JULIET. She is also the choreographer for the Cherry Hill West’s production of THE LITTLE MERMAID.  She just finished under studying for NINE TO FIVE at Walnut..

 

Madison Auch – Daughter Maggie – (South Philly)

 

Madison recently finished a successful run of DISABILITY: A COMEDY with In Cahoots Theatre for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and is currently understudying METAMORPHOSIS at the Arden. In addition to performing, Madison also works as a Teaching Artist at multiple theaters throughout Philadelphia.

 

Jeff Baxt – Father Pettigrew (Roxboro)

 

Jeff played Father Pettigrew in LAFFERTY last year at Society Hill Playhouse. He recently shot a national commercial for Brother printers that will be online next month.

 

 

Jason Klemm – Rory, the barkeep – (West Philadelphia)

 

Jason played the original, Patrick, 17 years ago.

 

Jason Eric Klemm is a Philadelphia based actor who has worked at SHP (including the original LAFFERTY’S WAKE in 1998). He worked on HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, DRIVING MISS DAISEY, and THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY at the Walnut St. Theater, and the film PARANOIA with Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman..

 

 

Mark Knight – Lafferty of old

 

Mark has toured the UK & Europe many times and appeared in over two hundred plays, both classics & new writing. He was resident Actor/Teacher/Manager at Shakespeare’s Globe Education Department, London, 1984-1997 and now lives in Philadelphia.

 

 

Kelly Boeckle – Molly

 

Daniel Irwin – Patrick

 

 

Costumes are by Tina Heinz, who also costumed the original production
